Setting up two-factor authentication and recovery codes

Protect your landlord account with an authenticator and keep recovery codes for when your phone is unavailable.

What two-factor authentication does

With two-factor authentication, Homadu asks for an additional code after your password. You get this code from an authenticator app. Knowing your password alone is therefore not enough to access your management environment. Set up this protection for your own account under Profile.

Connecting the authenticator

  1. Open Profile and go to Two-factor authentication.
  2. Choose Enable and confirm your password if requested.
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If scanning is not possible, use the displayed setup key.
  4. Enter the current code from the app and confirm the setting.
  5. Check that the section shows two-factor authentication as enabled.

Keep your recovery codes

After setup, you can view recovery codes. Keep them somewhere secure that you can access without your phone, such as your password manager. On the login screen, you can use a recovery code when you cannot obtain an authenticator code.

Never share the QR code, setup key or recovery codes with guests or other users. Someone with these details may be able to take over the additional login check. A used recovery code cannot be reused indefinitely.

A different phone or new codes

Arrange the switch while you still have access to your account and current authenticator. Under Profile, you can regenerate recovery codes; keep the new set instead of the old one afterwards. To disable or set up two-factor authentication again, use the security options in this section and confirm your password when Homadu asks.
