Changing your Homadu subdomain
Change your Homadu subdomain and update old links: the previous name is replaced, not kept as an additional address.
Which name are you changing?
Under Application → Homadu subdomain, change the short part of your Homadu address. For forestcottage.homadu.com, that is forestcottage. This does not change a separately registered domain such as forestcottage.com or an accommodation’s title.
Choose a clear, recognisable name. The value must be available and may only contain permitted letters, digits and hyphens. Reserved platform names and subdomains already in use cannot be selected.
Saving the change
- First note your current website address and identify shared links that will need updating.
- Open Application and find Homadu subdomain.
- Enter the new short subdomain and click Save.
- Open the new address and check your website. If your custom domain is primary, it remains the preferred public address.
- Update manually placed references, for example on social media, in adverts and in your own text.
Effects on the primary domain and old links
If your Homadu subdomain was also primary, its new name takes over that role. If a custom domain is primary, it stays primary and only your Homadu subdomain changes.
The old subdomain is replaced and no longer exists as your connected address. Do not rely on a redirect from the old name. Check old bookmarks, previously sent links and calendar references you entered manually.
Do not change your subdomain solely to improve the displayed accommodation name. Change the accommodation details for that purpose, avoiding unnecessary address changes for your entire environment.
