Choosing your primary domain

Learn how your custom domain becomes primary automatically and how to switch between it and your Homadu subdomain afterwards.

One primary website address

The primary domain is the preferred address for your public rental website and the links Homadu creates for it. Your environment has one primary address. Your Homadu subdomain remains connected alongside it and cannot be removed.

Your custom domain automatically becomes primary once the hosting connection is Active and the SSL certificate has been issued. Until then, the existing primary address stays in use and Make primary is hidden for the custom domain. Afterwards, you can switch between your custom domain and Homadu subdomain.

Making another address primary

  1. Go to Application and find the desired address under Domains.
  2. For a custom domain, check that the connection is Active and the certificate has been issued.
  3. Open the address itself using https:// and check that your website is reachable.
  4. Choose Make primary beside the desired domain.
  5. Check that the Primary label has moved to the new address and test View website.

What else should you check afterwards?

Ordinary public website pages, robots.txt and the sitemap on the other connected address redirect visitors to the primary address. Administration, sign-in, support visits and secure or one-time booking confirmation links stay on their original address. Also update links you placed manually in adverts and social media.

The cookie banner is available from the paid period after your trial. Homadu arranges this automatically for your primary website address and updates the connection when that address changes. You do not need to change settings with an external cookie service yourself. This service ends when the paid subscription actually ends.

If you remove the primary custom domain, Homadu first makes your Homadu subdomain primary. You do not need to change it yourself beforehand. You do need to wait for processing to finish when a connection is being created or removed.
