Setting mandatory charges, optional extras and included services
Decide which services count automatically and which guests can choose themselves.
Choose how to offer the service
A mandatory service counts automatically when it applies to the stay. Use this for fixed final cleaning, for example. An optional service counts after the guest chooses it on the booking page, such as a hot tub package. Included shows that a facility or service belongs to the rental without charging a surcharge.
The mandatory setting is separate from the charge type. A mandatory service can still be calculated per person or per night, for example. Included services do not need a separate price. A security deposit receives its own treatment in the cost overview.
Save the settings
- Open Service charges for the correct accommodation and add a service or edit an existing one.
- Choose a paid charge type and enter the amount. Mark the service mandatory if it should be calculated automatically; leave this off for an optional extra.
- Choose Included if you only want to emphasise that something, such as towels, belongs to the rental price.
- Enter a recognisable name and an explanation where needed, then save the service.
Avoid duplicate charges
Do not count cleaning both in an increased rental price and as an unexpected mandatory surcharge. Make a test selection to check that the displayed amounts match what you intend to offer. Also check whether an optional extra still makes sense with different guest counts.
A mandatory service with quantities can still require a quantity selection. The configured minimum determines how much the guest must take; mandatory does not automatically mean one item.
