Setting a security deposit and showing it in the cost overview
Record a security deposit and make clear which amount is added to the stay charges.
A security deposit is a separate amount
A security deposit is not extra rent. Homadu therefore shows it separately below the normal total and also shows the total including the deposit. The deposit is calculated once per applicable stay. You do not need to link a number of nights or people to it.
Suppose rent and services total €500 and you request a €100 deposit. The cost overview shows €500 as the total, €100 as the deposit and €600 as the total including the deposit. This makes the difference between charges and security clear to your guest.
Add a security deposit
- Choose the accommodation and open Service charges.
- Click Add service and select the Deposit charge type.
- Enter the amount and, if desired, a custom name or description. Only set a validity period if the deposit does not apply to every stay.
- Save and check the cost overview for a suitable stay on the website.
Agree on collection and repayment
Describe in your house rules or terms when the guest pays the deposit, how you receive it and when you repay it. You can also include these arrangements in a suitable booking email. Keep the wording consistent with the amounts you configure in Homadu.
Entering a security deposit controls its price display. It does not make Homadu collect or refund it automatically. Agree the practical handling with the guest using your chosen payment method.
