VAT on your Homadu invoices and the Check your VAT details message
Understand the tax explanation, verification of your number and what to do when asked to correct your details.
With or without a VAT number
A VAT number is optional. For individuals or customers without usable VAT evidence, Stripe Tax calculates the applicable tax using the saved billing details. An ordinary VAT treatment generally applies to a Dutch customer purchasing from the Dutch supplier.
For a relevant business customer in another EU country, reverse charge may apply, but only after the registration has been sufficiently positively verified. Homadu checks country, number format and validity. A different spelling of a business name does not by itself cause automatic rejection.
Your number is checked again
For a selected subscription with saved VAT details, periodic rechecking normally takes place after thirty days. A first negative VIES response is silently checked again. After at least six hours, a second explicitly negative response can confirm the problem. A technical outage does not count as an invalid number.
During an outage, Homadu tries again later. Previously positively verified, unchanged details can continue to be used under certain conditions; new or changed details do not automatically receive that approval.
What should you do when asked to check your VAT details?
- Open Billing → Billing address through your own administration area.
- Check the complete VAT number, country code and your billing country.
- Correct the genuinely accurate details and click Save.
- Read the confirmation or any field message; a visible proposal may not yet have been applied.
For a confirmed problem with saved details, Homadu may send one correction email. Repeated checks of the same unresolved problem do not generate another email for every invoice. If usable evidence remains unavailable, future VAT may be charged based on the billing details.
Read the actual invoice outcome
Prices, previews and invoices each show their own tax explanation. No VAT charged does not automatically mean reverse charge. Any account credit can also affect the amount payable.
Whether you can deduct or reclaim VAT you have paid depends on your own tax situation and the invoice. Homadu does not give a general guarantee. Ask your accountant to assess it if you are unsure.
