Solving a domain verification or SSL problem

Distinguish a DNS error from a hosting connection still in progress or a failed certificate.

Identify the step that is failing

Open Application and look at the message under Custom domain or the status under Domains. Rejection when clicking Add is usually a different situation from a domain already added but still queued or without an issued certificate.

Homadu checks the server destination and your TXT verification before creating the connection. Hosting configuration and SSL issuance follow afterwards. An Active connection status alone therefore does not automatically mean the certificate is ready too.

Checking DNS and verification

  1. Check that you entered the exact correct hostname, including www if that is what you want to connect.
  2. Compare the current and expected A record with the details in Homadu.
  3. Check the full TXT value and whether it belongs to the same hostname.
  4. Check with your provider that the DNS changes were saved and allow existing caches time to refresh.
  5. Try Add again once the correct values are visible.

Checking hosting status and the certificate

Queued and Provisioning indicate that configuration is still in progress. With Certificate pending, wait for completion. If hosting is active but the status says Certificate failed, first resolve any DNS problems and use Request certificate when that action is available.

If the connection keeps failing or a certificate error returns, contact Homadu. Include the exact domain name, displayed status and error text. You do not need to share your domain provider’s password.

Your custom domain only becomes primary automatically once hosting and its certificate are ready. You cannot remove a connection while it is queued, being created or being removed. Allow processing to finish; contact Homadu if a status remains stuck.
