Personalising emails with variables

Use supported placeholders to insert guest details, stay dates and arrival information into your emails automatically.

What is a variable?

A variable is a fixed name between double braces that Homadu fills from the booking. For example, Hello {{ guest_first_name }} lets you write one template that uses each guest’s first name. Copy the variable name exactly, including the double braces.

Common placeholders

  • Guest: {{ guest_name }}, {{ guest_first_name }}, {{ guest_last_name }}, {{ guest_email }} and {{ guest_phone }}.
  • Stay: {{ accommodation_name }}, {{ booking_reference }}, {{ check_in }}, {{ check_out }} and {{ nights }}.
  • Times from the house rules: {{ checkin_from }}, {{ checkin_until }} and {{ checkout_time }}.
  • Party: {{ adults }}, {{ children }}, {{ babies }}, {{ pets }} and {{ guests_total }}.
  • Guest note: {{ guest_note }}. Review form: {{ review_form_url }}.

{{ guests_total }} includes adults, children and babies. This is a message variable, not automatically the same count used for maximum occupancy or a pricing rule.

Entering and checking content

  1. Open the required email template for your accommodation.
  2. Place supported variables in the subject or content wherever the information is needed.
  3. Write a clear sentence around each placeholder.
  4. Save the template and view the preview.
  5. Check the different language versions and the spelling of the variables.

Avoid missing information

An unfilled phone number or arrival time may produce an empty value. Write your message so optional details do not make a sentence confusing. A variable you invent yourself, such as one for a price or access code, is not automatically supported. For a real booking, check guest details and house rules if information is missing from the message. Use replanning to change existing scheduled content.
