Cancelling an accepted booking
Cancel a confirmed booking, preserve its history and let Homadu update the guest and availability.
When should you use cancellation?
Use Cancel booking when a previously accepted stay will not go ahead. You can still find the booking afterwards with cancelled status. Decline a request that is still pending; permanently deleting a booking is a separate, irreversible action.
First check which accommodation, guest and dates the booking concerns. Discuss the consequences with the guest in accordance with your own cancellation terms. The button manages the booking’s status in Homadu; it does not automatically settle every financial arrangement between you.
Carrying out the cancellation
- Go to Bookings and open the accepted booking using View.
- Click Cancel booking.
- Optionally enter an explanation under Reason.
- Read the confirmation and click Cancel booking to carry out the action.
- Check the status and look at the Communication section.
Homadu stores any reason with the booking and automatically sends a cancellation message to the guest. The communication overview is updated; the final delivery status can arrive later.
What changes afterwards?
Availability events belonging to this booking are removed. Future automated emails for the booking are also removed, so a cancelled stay does not keep receiving scheduled arrival messages. Previously sent messages remain part of the retained booking history.
A released date is only bookable if no other booking, external calendar block or stay rule prevents it. External rental platforms pick up changes according to their own calendar processing.
Cancelling does not automatically refund the guest. Check deposits, security deposits and cancellation charges yourself. The detail page does not offer a button to change a cancelled booking back to accepted.
